Blog post #2 Career

For my career enrichment workshop I decided to attend a resume building workshop organized by sigma. Now while I say “decided to attend” it’s more like I just followed a group of people from our class to an event that they said had something to do with resume building. Turns out it was a workshop delivered by Starr but organized by sigma for sigma members only which, seeing as we don’t even have GPA’s yet, none of us were. After some coaxing though they agreed, or I should say the one teaching the class from the starr center agreed, to let us attend. The event itself was fairly standard. It was an hour and a half class about resumes. What to include and how to include it, what not to include and just a general overview of what a resume is and the actual purpose of a resume.  The material was fairly detailed and nicely organized. The instructor seemed like she knew what she was talking about. Although she did ask for examples from the group a little too much given how unwilling the sigma people were willing to participate. Luckily the FRO group were there to chip in, which she seemed pleased about. Overall it was a successful event. I learned some valuable skills for improving my resume building abilities and even learned a little about sigma.
