The Houdini Museum is about an escape artist named Harry Houdini. I went to the museum today after class with friends. Since this enrichment workshop is a mandatory assignment for all freshmen I met up with friends and we went together. I choose this museum because it was the closest one to school. All my friends end class around the same time so we just went together. The museum was pretty small and hard to navigate because it was hidden in a building on a different floor. It was interesting because it’s not like the normal museums we usually go to such as the Museum of Modern Art, or the Museum ofNatural History. This was my second choice of museum to go to because the Museum of Modern Art or the MOMA was temporarily closed due to renovation and redecoration purposes. At the Houdini Museum, we saw many many artifacts and photographs from Houdini’s time. For example, there was Houdini’s escape coffin in which he was able to escape from a coffin sealed with six inch nails under him. Moreover, we were able to see the infamous handcuffs that he is known to have escaped from with his tiny hands. There were also costumes, stage props and other artifacts from Houdini’s personal magic tricks in addition to the original bust from his grave which was very interesting. We took pictures at the museum and I didn’t post on my instagram because they weren’t that great. I don’t think anyone can look good after a long day of classes so that explains why my face is crossed out. This assignment didn’t really help me with my transition from high school to college. The only thing I have trouble with right now is time management and being forced to go to a museum to take a picture of myself at that museum is only taking away from time that should be spent writing my essay.
