I joined the Cultural Students Association(CSA) a few weeks ago. I kind of just started going to their club room all the time and talking to the people there, and they all seem to like me so i made a lot of new friends. They usually have a lot of parties, and events that i attend. Whenever there isn’t anything going on we usually play games in the club room an have food and talk. Its the club in the suite that always has the music blasting. Its almost always fun in there. They also are very helpful with showing me around the school, telling me great places to eat, and sometimes even giving me things. I joined the club with one of my high school friends and they helped him study for midterms and tutored him. They also helped me set up my schedule for next semester. Its a great community to be apart of, everyone pretty much looks out for each other. This is a picture of me helping them set up for an event.
On Halloween, I was at school late so some friends and I went to the Halloween Parade in the city because we were bored. We bought a five dollar masks and tried to see what was happening in the parade but there was too many people and we were packed between a lot people. Eventually, we gave up and started walking towards the train station and then I jumped into a fountain and got soaked and had to go home with no shoes because they were leaking. Looking back, it was kind of worth it because the everything else that day was a disappointment.
Last week during FYS, we had a presentation from the STARR Center on many benefcial opportunities given by Baruch. The presenter discussed the many workshops available to the students such as building a resume with a cover letter, preparing for a career and discussing majors. The presentation also talked about getting internships and explained on the website why internships are relevant, the types of internships and preparation for the internships. The presentation explained self assessment, one’s interest, values, skills, personality, etc.
I finished all my midterms this week and i been studying hard so i am sure i did well on all of them. I have a 7 page paper due next week tho and I am really not lookin forward to finishing it. Everything has been great so far at Baruch and i started making friends and meeting people although i didn’t really intend to. I am more looking forward to my schedule for next semester, because I am tired of waking up so early, but besides that everything has gone well.
Last week in FYS, we had the STARR Career Center send someone to come speak to us and I found it really useful. It was very resourceful and I feel like I’m going to rely on it a lot for my future plans and career planning or maybe even for internship looking. I also didn’t realize they had an app too which is pretty convenient. I had a math quiz and History test today and I felt like I did well on math and not bad on History which honestly put me at ease so now I can catch up on my project doing this week!
this is for the second week of October. Once again I probably forgot about it. I spent money on the game again even though I said I would stop playing games. I need to put more of my focus and attention on school instead of on guys and on games.
well this is for the first week of October. I probably forgot to do it since we didn’t have fys one of those weeks. I think every week is the same thing over and over again. I’m tired of having to travel 2 hours to school and two hours back. I’m tired of having to pay for classes I teach and learn myself.
I studied for my history test today. I think I did pretty well other than the fact that I didn’t have enough time to finish my essay. I cut a foot of hair off this weekend and then dyed it blueish gray. It was a pretty big change for me since my hair as always been a big part of me and of who I am.
I enjoyed the presentation given to us on Tuesday. We were shown many tools given to us by Starr. I really liked the option Starr is giving to students pursuing law. Since i wan to be a lawyer and had no idea that Starr offered such tolls. I also liked the job opportunities Starr was offering to students. I also downloaded the app which is very useful and i am able to look for jobs much easier in the future. I went to a study room for the first time in the library. I had to study with a group because of the amount of work we had. It’s cool seeing new things in the library you’ve never seen before.
In class, everyone presented their monologues, and we all inched closer to the end of FYS and finals. FYS was a great experience for me since it makes everyone be a bit more social and interactive at school, although it will be nice to have a free slot in the middle of my day again. Nonetheless, everyone was able to have some laughs, make new friends, and try new things.
