For my third enrichment workshop I decided to fulfill my social workshop. I decided to go to BSA mock wedding because I heard a lot about it. Initially I didn’t want to go but my friend was performing so he made me go. But I was happy I went because with my friends and I it was a lot of fun. It was in the multi purpose room which honestly wasn’t that big enough because there were a lot of people there. There was a huge line in front of the multi purpose room. When we got there there were no seats so my friends and I were standing there most of the time. There weren’t just south Asian people there. Well a majority was south Asian, but I saw some other people from different races. I like how we can appreciate other cultures and share it with other races and ethnicities. The food was okay. I didn’t eat much there. The performances was really good. I know they practiced a lot before. My friend did good too. He told me he never danced before so he did good in a big crowd. When the performances were over the dance floor opened and everyone was dancing. I got stepped on like 100 times and  I was sweating a lot but the energy in the room was nice. I expected to leave early but I stayed the entire time. Overall it was a very fun experience.

Weekly reflection #10

Even though this is the last weekly reflection it is not the last week of the semester. I read my first weekly reflection and I was saying how smooth the semester was going but I can see the change now. I swear I am getting grey hairs. Next semester I am going to do better because I am going to be dorming. Commute is 2 hours for me and I knock out when I get home so it seriously hurts my studying time. I hope next semester I feel the sense of balance I had.

Weekly reflection #9

You really can’t procrastinate in college. I don’t know how my friends part every week. I’ve been sick for a while so I wanted to take a day for myself, but that did not happen. Even though I was in the hospital I was still homework cause if something is due at a specific time it is due.  I put school and studying as my top priority so I had to cancel plans with family and take time off of work which sucks.

Weekly reflection #8

I took a math test today and I hope did good on it. Math is the hardest subject for me and my professor isnt the best so I’m in out and out of tutoring all the time. Most of my days are just going to class, commuting, studying and going to work. I am extremely tired all of time.

Weekly reflection #7

This week is really hard. We are in the middle on the semester so that means midterms!! I feel like I have been studying nonstop. Its really to hard to manage work school family life and social life. I have a presentation in communications due soon so I’ve made an appointment with the SACC tutoring center to get a letter grade higher.

Weekly reflection #6

Today someone from the STARR center came and explained everything about the center. I found it very useful and she was very informative. I already visited the Starr center but she told me a bunch of new information that I never knew before. Like the symplicity app she told us to download. I know for a fact I am going to be going back for my Resume and if I need help for interviews.

Weekly reflection #5

We went through the monologues today and it was interesting to hear what people have to say about themselves. School is stressful with the amount of tests and work I have to do. I just want to focus on my classes that count for credit but now We have to write our monologue again for Tuesday.

Enrichment workshop- Career

I decided to go to the Starr career and development center for my second enrichment shop. This center will help me find a job, land an internship, master job interviews etc. I took a cover/resume writing guide which breaks down everything I would need to do to build a successful resume. For instance, this guide will help me on creating strong resume statements, action verbs, transferable skills, post letter thank you samples etc. This guide is very specific from explaining how many pages a resume to be to the skills/Job experience that should be included. This is extremely helpful for me because I need to update my resume. Also they have an Internship seminar on October 29 that I plan on going to. The Starr center has many events that I think are important to be successful in the job field. I am definitely going to come back utilize this center many times. Another piece of information I found helpful was their career advice. They said to visit vault.com to gain knowledge on companies attending the fair so I can be full prepared as a candidate. Another tip is to arrive fully prepared and have copies of my resume. Another tip is to develop an elevator pitch which is a short statement about who I am that shows my uniqueness and desirable as a job applicant. Every year the STARR development center invites their employer partners to come to Baruch to be apart of the On-campus recruiting program. This is a great way to network with Baruch alumni and Baruch professionals. Student organizations and academic departments may host these sessions. Attending a corporate presentation will allow me to assess the company and its culture, gain insight into various career paths and learn about available positions and qualities they look for in candidates. Overall the Starr center is extremely helpful and I plan on utilizing it the next 4 yearsThis image requires alt text, but the alt text is currently blank. Weekly reflection #4

We went over peoples monologues and they presented  a quick introduction of themselves. Feedback was given to the students of what they did good on and what they should improve on. It helped me learn more on what is expected from my monologue. Then we have a check up on how life was going regarding my academic, social, work and family life.
