My third and last enrichment workshop was to go to a career event. To me this was this was the hardest workshop to do because I could not decide where to go. I was not sure what I wanted to do, but during my four hour gap I decided that I needed to use this time to do something productive. The closest place I could think about was the STARR career development center. I’m happy this was the first place I went to because I learned a lot more than I thought I would. I had very little knowledge of what to spect from STARR but once I got there all the staff where very friendly and it was quite interesting and informative engaging with them. We started by revising the different minors that would be a good fit for my intended major: International Business. It was extremelly helpful because when I did the three semester plan I put marketing as my intended minor, but really did not know much about it and did not give it much thought, but after talking to a staff member I think it is actually quite a nice minor to choose. I also talked about some diffenrent minors and how they would influnce my future career, now I am also leaning towards psychology. I also received some advise on how to use the Simplicity app, which is very helpful at finding a wide amount of jobs and internships in some very important companies, for example I was told that there was an internship soon at Goldman Sachs and that its application deadline was December first. This was just one among many other companies I could apply to. Finally I was told that if I needed help with anything regarding job interviews or internships I could always go to them or visit some of their workshops, which I will surely do.
I’m very excited about my future career and cant wait to learn more about minors I can take in the following years
