For the Enrichment Workshop, I decided to go to the Tibet House on 15th St mainly because I was pretty close to it at the time. It was also good that there was no admission so I decided to explore the museum. The Tibet House, as the name suggest, had cultural works focusing on Tibetan culture and religion. I saw lots of images and depiction of bodhisattvas, which is a person who is trying to become a Buddha. There were statues and artwork of Buddha and bodhisattvas whose names I can not pronounce and these works were pretty vibrant. The main exhibit that was being presented was by an artist called Tenzing Rigdol, a contemporary Tibetan artist. His artwork called “My World Is In Your Blind Spot” depicts five Buddhas all in different colored clothing:red, blue, yellow, green, etc, on fire. Their posture seemed relaxed despite the fact they were burning alive. and it was pleasing to the eye despite its gruesome nature because the Buddhas were depicted in a silhouette like form.
