Oh! Taisho!
Oh! Taisho!, also known as Yakitori Taisho on Yelp, is a Japanese sushi bar that features yakitori. For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about:
(Yakitori (焼き鳥, やきとり, ヤキトリ?), grilled chicken, is commonly a Japanese type of skewered chicken. The term “yakitori” can also refer to skewered food in general. Kushiyaki (skewer grilled), is a formal term that encompasses both poultry and non-poultry items, skewered and grilled. Both yakitori and kushiyaki are used interchangeably in Japanese society.) – Wikipedia
The restaurant is located at 5 St. Marks Place in New York City and is rated 4 out of 5 stars on Yelp. At first glance, the restaurants seems like a little hole in the wall, but as you walk into the establishment, you notice it’s quite spacious as there’s an extended back room. The restaurant feels like you’re in Japan, with the vast amounts of cultural decor and the limited English speaking waiters.
I was accompanied by my beautiful girlfriend, and since it was our first time here, we decided we’d order a dish from every section of the menu. We ordered a total of four dishes as well as a variety of different yakitori. The names of the dishes have been long forgotten but I will update them as soon as possible. The quality of the food was superb. The meat and vegetables were fresh, and the yakitori was cooked perfectly. If you’re into tea then I suggest ordering there house Oolong or Green tea, as they give you jumbo size mugs of it. The service was speedy and cleanliness was A+ in our opinion. With a price rating of $$ on Yelp, Yakitori Taisho offers patrons high quality, fresh food, that is quickly served at a reasonable price.
This place will most definitely get Chan’s recommendation!
