Peace Among The Storm

One may say Time Square is the Center of Manhattan. This place gives emphasis to characterizing of New York City as “the City that Never Sleeps.” This is the place where tourists experience “the New York lifestyle”—a lifestyle full of exploration involving shopping, dining, sight-seeing and more. For New Yorkers, like myself, you think you have experienced and seen it all. However, to our surprise, there is always something new, hidden away.

My best friend and I stumbled upon this bowling alley, walking away from Times Square. This alley was on a street full of theater showcasing their latest musical. There was only a single black door leading to the entrance of this alley. You are greeted by a calm, soothing atmosphere, totally opposite of the busy, loud Broadway Street. In the low-lit bowling alley, the occurrences outside were completely blocked off. After spending a few hours there, we step back onto the busy streets of Broadway. I was amazed at the difference in the atmosphere of the two places. For a place of such tranquil, relaxing atmosphere could exist among the chaotic activities of Time Square and make me wonder how many places like this are in Time Square.
