On September 11, 2001, a catastrophe struck the United States. A terrorist attack involving two hijacked planes that flew into The Twin Tower resulting in many loss of many lives. Over two thousand people were killed in this attack, with over six thousand injured. In honour of the many law enforcement officers, firefighters and citizens killed, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum
was built. This is where two square pools were built in place of where the Twin
Towers stood. The victims’ names were carved on bronze plates around the edges of the memorials pools.
This site has become an important landmark for the New York and the United
States. The reverence and peace that dwells within the atmosphere characterise the sacredness of this landmark. Tourists from near and far come to learn the history of this place. A neutral respect and compassion are shown to every victim from strangers, family members and friends.
