Congratulations to all the Teams for their hard work and making it this far in the CUNY-IBM Watson Case Competition 2018. After reviewing their submissions for Milestone#2, the following ten teams have been able to make it to the next round.

So the Ten Finalists are:

Team Number: 2  NYCapable

Business Case Title: NYCapable: Advocating for Mental Health in New York City

1-minute video : By analyzing Social Media posts, NYCapable will be able to identify Individuals who are struggling and provide them NYC mental health resources specific to their case.

Team Members: Lily Caplan, Yizoung Kuang, Sarah Ann-Mathew, and Noam Sohn

Team Number: 26  CivicAI

Business Case Title: The Fairer NYC Bail Algorithm.

1-minute video: CivicAI plans to reduce bias within the NYC Court System’s bail determination algorithm by using IBM Watson and modern data science tactics.

Team Members: Connor Rowland, Samuel Bouiss, Kaizhen Tan, Yingqiu Lin, Yinheng Li.

Business Case Title: Barrier Breaker

1-minute video: A personal interpreter that breaks any language barrier for you anytime, anywhere.

Team Members: Yiu Chung Yau, Daniel Constantine, Shinan Liu, Liang Fang, Luis Rizo

Team Number: 34  Baruch Capital

Business Case Title: Utilizing IBM Watson in Addressing Child Abuse

1-minute video :Child abuse is a real issue that occurs with little to no hints, our project aims to utilize data science techniques alongside IBM Watson to identify and mitigate child abuse.

Business Case Title: WatsonER: Augmenting Triage Process in NYC Health + Hospitals

1 minute video: The WatsonER system will revolutionize New York City hospitals, creating a more efficient, enjoyable experience for both patients and medical personnel.

Business Case Title: Providing Real-Time Flood Data to Improve Climate Change Resiliency Efforts.

1 minute video: Leveraging Watson AI to create crowdsourced flood maps for New York City.

Business Case Title: Introduction to QuickTransfer (QT)

1-minute video : “Our platform, QuickTransfer, is an interactive tool built on Watson AI, designed to assist university faculty and students streamline the transfer credit process.”

Business Case Title: Reducing Recidivism

1-minute video : Improving release program accessibility by automating the process and making it personalized to the individual.

Business Case Title: Synthia: The SMS Census Assistant

1-minute video : New Yorkers will have the option to text an AI named Synthia answers to the 2020 Census along with any questions they have.

Team Number: 61  WatPlace

Business Case Title: Wator – Virtual Mentor for College Students

1-minute video : Virtual mentor that guides students in the right path by finding their strengths, recommend suitable extracurriculars and jobs, and protecting mental health.
