New IB Programs Initiatives

This semester, the IB Programs Team successfully launched two exciting new initiatives: the IB Programs Website and two newsletters.

Passports to Global Careers

This biweekly newsletter for current IB students highlights internships and part-time job opportunities tailored to the skills of international business majors. It also features IB-related events on and off campus, as well as an Alumni Spotlight to inspire students. So far, we have issued seven newsletters and are thrilled to see increasing engagement with the content. Recognizing the broader relevance of these newsletters, we aim to expand this initiative beyond IB students by enhancing marketing efforts to reach all Baruch students interested in international careers. These efforts are set to begin in Spring 2025.
Additionally, we are conducting research with students to understand how to improve the newsletter and make it an even more valuable resource. Their feedback will guide updates to ensure the newsletter continues to meet their needs effectively.

The Globetrotter

This semesterly newsletter is sent to alumni, staff, and IB students, aiming to keep alumni connected with the latest developments in the program and the progress of current students. The Globetrotter provides updates on initiatives, events, and the various international journeys of IB students. As the Weissman Center continues to engage more alumni in its events, we believe this newsletter is an excellent way to keep them informed and involved.
The Fall 2024 edition of the Globetrotter has just been published.

IB Alumni Website and Spotlights

We also launched our IB Alumni Website, showcasing Alumni Spotlights that highlight the diverse career paths pursued by IB graduates. From Finance and Marketing to Economic Development and Supply Chain, this initiative aims to inspire current students by demonstrating the wide array of opportunities available to international business majors. These one-page profiles include alumni career journeys, current and past experiences, and their advice for students.

One of the alumni featured in this initiative is Ceren Soyugurlu, who currently works at Estée Lauder as the Global Finance Manager for Clinique. Ceren has been actively engaged with the IB Team and attended the Mitsui event in November. Here’s what she had to say about the Alumni Spotlight initiative:

I think the Spotlight initiative is an amazing resource for the students at Baruch who are pursuing an international business degree. It’s a great way for students to see where they can be after graduation (5, 10, 15 years after graduation). It’s also a great source of networking, where they can find the alumni on LinkedIn and have a coffee chat with them. This initiative can also serve as a segue to finding their internship or possibly their career right out of college. I would definitely recommend other alumni to participate and give back to the Baruch community. After all, we were all once in the same shoes as the current students and called Baruch our home for four years.

We are incredibly grateful to all the alumni who participated in this project. If you are an IB Alum interested in sharing your experiences, please reach out to us!
