I believe the video posted above resonate with the text “The Art of Noise” by Luigi Russolo. In the video, the lady created music through a variety of noises assembled from mechanical noises. It is interesting to me because similar to how the text mention “This revolution of music is paralleled by the increasing proliferation of machinery”. I agreed with the statement because of music such as video posted above and Techno. Individually, the noises created by the machine are just sounds but varies from what Luigi Russolo might have heard during his time around the early 1900s and what nature had to offer. The combinations of these noises yields a harmony that is different from the harmony created from a professional band with traditional instruments. I believe this video is very interesting and although it is done in an amateur level, we can imagine how it will look like when one is professionally build that can produce well calibrated sounds. I believe this is similar to what Luigi Russolo envision as a revolution in music. The sounds are not created by an orchestra or sound anything like a musical instrument. However, Techno is the kind of music that came to my mind when I was reading this text from Luigi Russolo because Techno combines a set of noises/sounds that blends together to create something different. The dissonance created from blending many noises/sounds created a new genre that is creative and new during the 1980s. I believe music is moving toward the direction Luigi Russolo mention in his text through technology like audiotune and technologies that capture sounds and reproduce them in many different ways and combinations that captures our interest from the traditional music.
