My teachable moment was about a family vacation we took in which I learned to go with the flow rather than sticking heavily to the plan. I became the cause of the gloomy atmosphere during the vacation because I believed the way to maximize the trip was to follow and do everything that was on it. This was due to how I’ve lived my entire life, being planned and organized. However, I learned that going with the flow can be just as much fun or even more so. A particular moment from the trip I’m going to expand on is this bike tour my brother spontaneously signed us up for throughout Puerto Morelos. This bike tour allowed me to experience a part of Mexican culture and history that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to experience if I followed the itinerary. I even got to try authentic tacos made from tools that have been used for many generations. This moment has changed the way I go through life because although I know that having an agenda and a set routine is helpful, I also learned to value the importance of being spontaneous.
