What To Do When the Library Website Is Down

Last week, there were a few hours here and there when the library website was down. When that happens, it’s worth knowing that all the content on the LibGuides system is still available, as those pages are hosted externally from the Springshare service. LibGuides content includes:

If you can’t recall the URL for our set of LibGuides pages, just do a web search for “baruch libguides” and you’ll find them.

Electrical Outlets at the Reference Desk [UPDATED]

I just submitted a work request to Buildings & Grounds to have them look into the electrical outlets at the reference desk that are no longer working. The outlets are the ones under the counter on the south side of the desk that are used by the Writing Center staff (there are two desktops plugged into these outlets). The work order number is 136928. I’ve let Annette Ruiz know about this work order so she can help keep on top of it.

UPDATE 22 Nov. 2016, 1:37 pm. Someone from Buildings and Grounds just fixed the problem. The outlets are working again.

New Links on the Library Website

There are a few new links on the library website that might come in handy. On the drop down menu that appears when you hover over “Faculty” there are now links for

  • “Library Workshop Request Form” (goes to the Qualtrics form)
  • “CUNY Academic Works” (goes to the main page for it)
  • “more…” (goes to the main Faculty page)

In a user experience project I have in mind for next spring, I’d like to take a look at what users make of the horizontal navigation and the menus that open when you hover over those key pages (Students, Faculty, Alumni, Guests, Help, etc.)
