Gale recently rebranded Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center as Opposing Viewpoints in Context. Since everyone who linked to this database in various LibGuides used the canonical link in the system (which, like all database links, can be found on the LibGuides–Reusable Links guide), I was able to make the change to the canonical link (as well us update the URL) and have that update roll out automatically to the three LibGuides that connect to the database.
Tag: New Interfaces
RefWorks has a new interface
I have updated the default interface for RefWorks to its new 2.0 interface. This new interface is in my opinion a big improvement over the older one – more user friendly, cleaner, easier to understand. The URL and access to it remains the same.
If you want to look to the older interface “RefWorks Classic”, there is a button on the top right that will take you back to that interface.
If you don’t see the new interface when you log-in, you may have to clear your cache.
Please let me know if you run into any issues or have any questions.
netLibrary and EBSCOhost Books
As you may already know, EBSCO bought netLibrary about a year ago. Since then, they have been working to migrate netLibrary content onto the EBSCOhost platform.
This transition is almost over and they have alerted us that in the next few days users accessing a netLibrary title will be seamlessly forwarded to EBSCOhost.
There shouldn’t be any problems, but please do let me know if you encounter any.
Bankscope has a new interface
Bankscope has a new interface and URL. Training can be arranged if there is interest.
Factiva’s Changes
Since May 1, Factiva has made some changes and improvements. Information is also found on the News Pages, in What’s new on Factiva.com, listed under Editor’s Links.
The availability of news in Arabic is one of the changes.
New Interface for Euromonitor Passport GMID
Very discretely (maybe too discretely) Euromonitor went live with a new interface for Passport GMID yesterday. There is a video overview of the new interface that may be worth checking out (if only for the comedic value of hearing “GMID” said as a word, “gee-mid” instead of a sequence of individual letters).
Conference Board Redesign
The Conference Board Research Database is undergoing a re-design that probably won’t be finished for several weeks. What does this mean for us? We will be connecting to the full corporate members site and if you try to access reports that are not part of our subscription, you will be asked to login with a user name and password. To find the reports that are available through our library subscription, click on “Business Management Research.” You will see the usual keyword browsing/search and download options. When the re-design is finished we will have direct access to the library subscription with added full text search features.
