Obesity has swept through Asian countries where the food is faster, fattier and the lifestyle more sedentary. In cities, processed foods and fast foods rich with sugar and fats are often the cheapest. That is why, fast foods are in demand. The World Health Organization reports that 6 out of 10 deaths in this region are due to the diseases that may be linked to obesity- heart attacks, stroke, diabetes, hypertension and some forms of cancer. One primary concern of the health officials is the spread of obesity among Asian children which leads to a severe form of a diabetes.  This ailment has been nicknamed “diabesity.” Experts say that it has been rising by 9 percent a year. The government in China says that the main reason why children are becoming obese is because of parents being overindulgent. While, Dr. Litonjua blamed what he called “malling” which he defined as spending the day in shopping malls and eating at fast food restaurants.
