My life matters because I am a woman of color. My life matters because I am a descendant of Mayans whose beautiful land is named Guatemala. My life matters because I am a child of the African Diaspora that stems from the island of Puerto Rico. My life matters because I am a powerhouse that is not afraid to be outspoken and talk about uncomfortable subjects. My life matters because I am a community organizer that gives her all on the field to liberate my people. My life matters because I am my ancestor’s wildest dreams. My life matters because I was able to survive living below the federal poverty line, attending an underfunded, over-policed and hyper militarized school that worked so hard to see my peers and I locked up but we persevered. My life matters despite the racist, patriarchal, capitalist systems in this country that say it does not.
