I viewed the list of sounds from the website and saw that Andy Warhol was on that list. After looking at his sounds I found this interesting sound of an interview he did with Jeff Gordon. It demonstrates him answering questions of the interview only saying “uh, no” or “uh, yes”. This loops for the fifteen minutes it’s playing and it is really intriguing. The repetition gives his answer and importance yet it also blends them all together. Since we do not have knowledge of the questions he is answering we cannot really relate with him. His voice changes pitch when he says “uh” to invite us in, and he sounds more welcoming. It also shows how us has humans, tend to say “uh, um, so” when we speak to each other but talk differently when we write. The sounds we make while speaking are there to try to take away the awkwardness of silence, they are filling up that void we leave when we are still processing what to say next. The simplicity of this sound also demonstrates that it does not have to be something so loud and extravagant to have importance in the art world. Modern art wants more simplicity and yes and no cannot be more simple than what they are. I would say that because of the ability to relate to his words, Warhol really connected people to this sound. If it was not for that hearing someone for fifteen minutes repeated something would be boring after the first two minutes.
