Malcolm X talks about his experience of learning how to read and write for the first time changed the way he looked at life. He was able to open is mind to many different ideas which essentially provided him a new identity. The most important idea behind his experience was that he wanted to show how being literate made him feel so free in life even after being imprisoned for many years as this knowledge provided him the capability to learn more about the world.
There is a strong connection between this article and my project about literacy. Since my project is about persuading the audience to bring more awareness to literacy by supporting more programs which allows adults and kids to gain an equal opportunity to learn how to read and write.
