All the way at the bottom of Manhattan, where there are skyscrapers towering all over, is an area of green. There are trees and fields, tables and benches, basketball courts, and playgrounds. Look one direction and New Jersey across from the Hudson river comes into view. Looking at the opposite direction and there is the world trade center and the mass of buildings around it. It is a beautiful place called Battery Park near the end of the city where people can go to relax and have fun.
Walking onto the basketball courts with the ball i rented from the park in my hands, I remember all the memories I had in this place. Throughout my time in high school I would come to this park to play basketball, soccer, ping-pong, and even billiards. Spending hours and hours hanging out at this area, I grew attached to it and always love coming back. There was just so much to do there. After playing at the park itself. There were places to get food nearby which included delis, halal carts, fast-food chains and restaurants. There were even a few shopping centers nearby.
After not coming back for months, the place is basically the same. The only difference is the people. Half the people there would be from my high school and now that I graduated and everyone else is off in college, there aren’t as many familiar faces there. It was still used the same way, a place to chill after school (or even during school for many). There were people from my school, Stuyvesant, BMCC (a college nearby), a middle school, the residents, and people taking a break from their jobs.
Battery Park is a great place to go relax, it has a great view and many things to do.
