As a student, one of the most important things is time management. At many universities all around the country, students have to deal with many problems but the most important one is how to manage your social life and academics. This is a very big role conflict. The reason we go to college in the first place is to get an education, to increase your awareness, discover what you are passionate about, to network with different people, and lastly to challenge your self. Alcohol is known to create many obstacles negatively affecting your academics and overall grade point average. Alcohol changes the mental reasoning of a person. Going to class hangover because of excess drinking causes lack of participation and slowing of physical and psychological reactions.  After a long day of classes, it is hard enough to just sit and study but trying to do so while mentally impaired by alcohol or other drugs is twice as bad. Many students try their best at managing their time but later on regret their decisions when it is time for a test or an overdue assignment. This role conflict makes up a majority of many students lives whether it is due to alcohol, drugs, or excessive participation in unnecessary hobbies or sports. Making this a habit in college can lead to more problems in the future. College exemplifies a major role conflict, both during and after your college experience, the pressure on everyone to be a social being. But the cost and opportunity of academic and extra-curricular also creates conflict for students to chose one or the other, or balance the strains of both.

Role conflict is main problem I have today. As a student, mother, wife and an employee it is very hard to manage my time. I believe many young people have the same issues. Time management is very important. Most important is how individuals can succeed in everyday social life with academics. This issue occurs frequently with students.
Being a full time student takes time to attend classes and complete homework on time. It also takes away some ability to concentrate on readings and writings that are due the next day. To handle all of this above well time management is crucial. One can say the same thing about being a full time mother. To have harmony in life and balance time between academics and personal life it takes a lot of energy, psychological focus and responsibility to perform other duties.
My responsibility does not allow me to neglect any of the roles I have in life. I want to do my best to achieve my goal by getting a degree and be a best role model for my daughter; I understand those duties come with consequences, it’s either dedicating your whole time to being a perfect mom or being an excellent student. That’s where the role conflict comes into play. I value education, in my opinion future success in educational field will bring even more bright future for me and my daughter, right now I choose to use my time wisely into getting my degree. It is very hard to deal with a fact that because of that choice my daughter has to live thousand miles away from me; yes, in overseas where my heart is but here in States where I struggle to pursuit my goals.

I agree with your blog post. Having more than one role throughout the course of a day is not something uncommon. In fact, all of us has to take on more than role, whether we want to or not, and that is perfectly normal. When we go into the bagel store, we take on the role as a customer; when we board the bus or ride the train, we take on the role as a passenger. Like most, I take on the role as a student when I am at school. I take on the role as an employee the moment I step into my work building. At home, the role of a son is more apparent as I have to obey my mother. There are instances when roles have to intertwine and we have conflicting roles. Because society requires us to take on so many roles throughout the day, time management becomes very important in our lives. As much as we want to be a basketball player in the park, we have to go to school to get education. There are times when I would rather be doing school related assignments at work, but I know my supervisor would not be happy. At the end of a long day, I just want to hit the gym and do some weight lifting, however my mother had errands for me to do.

Finding that work- social life balance is not easy, especially in a college or university. It is no surprise that many college students indulge themselves in alcohol because they cannot handle the pressure of college life. Many drop out because they would drink their problems away, but even after they wake up, the problems are still there and classes are still in session. Alcohol isn’t a solution, but many students find it readily available to them.
