In Tim Brown’s article, “Never mind A-Rod’s apology, the question now is can he hit?”, he discusses Alex Rodriquez apologized on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. In this Yahoo Sports News article, Brown states that Alex Rodriquez took a step in the right direction by writing a letter of apology. Alex Rodriquez, also known as A-Rod, was suspended 17 months ago for the usage of performance enhancing drugs, again. Brown also points out the ironic timing of this apology letter as it is “a few hours after Biogenesis founder Tony Bosch was sentenced to four years in federal prison for, among other things, supplying illegal substances to Alex Rodriguez.” Even though Brown mentions A-Rod’s apology through out the whole article, the apology is only the foundation of his main idea. Tim Brown believes that the letter of apology was the right thing to do but was not necessary because what really matters is to see if Alex Rodriquez can play the game of baseball.

Time does not stop for anyone, including Alex Rodriquez. Tim Brown explains how the game of baseball will continue and players will get older, while young stars keep entering the league every year. Alex Rodriquez is only relevant to baseball for how he preforms, and Brown even writes, “we’re reminded the game trundles ahead, as it will with or without Alex Rodriguez, no matter who plays third base for the New York Yankees, no matter how 654 home runs and three MVP honors may be viewed, and no matter if this ends well or not.” Brown emphasizes how A-Rod, 39 years old, is not his young all-star self anymore and is creeping up on the age of 40. In any other line of work, 40 years old is not consider too old to perform but it is in the sports world. Regardless of the guaranteed tens of millions of dollars owned to Alex Rodriquez, Tim Brown trusts that Alex Rodriquez knows he is not much use to any team unless he can put the bat to the ball.
