Movies and Shakers: Cinema Meets Couture at Milan Fashion Week

Milan fashion week is different to others. It focuses on the relationship between fashion and cinema.

Cavalli models were dressed like glamorous 1930s film stars. Whites, blacks and silvers were very present in the spring-summer 2014 collection, which translates into elegance.

‘’Eccentric, romantic and exuberant” looks was Cavalli’s aim. He looked into the film world because he believed fashion and cinema shared the same inspiration so he would be able to achieve the looks he wanted.

French-owned Italian fashion house Fendi also connected the two worlds of fashion and cinema together in an exhibition “Making Dreams” at a classic 1940s cinema.

In conclusion, cinema has always been connected to fashion. Female and male designers help create styles and trends, and the catwalks attract attention to main brands turning them into true icons.
