I feel that we are at fault for the English language being so difficult to understand but at the same time we are not. Where English in the U.S. is not even the or what I consider an official language in having people form all over the world come and create their own dialects in understanding the language more than often the true meaning will be lost.
Another problem that this creates is the misunderstanding an communication which I believe that Orwell was trying to describe. Politics is a language all in itself that many do not understand the point in using this example is that politics is a language that all should comprehend to make choices that will affect their lives but is often misconstrued and used to manipulate people. Which English has now become to be used as even in English in our papers we do this we try to sway our readers to our side through the use of manipulating and using excessive words when very few can be used.
We use what I like to call “Thesaurian language”, basically the use of the thesaurus in our every day language to sound more intelligent and believe when what we really need to do is be concise and to the point where we wont waste time, confuse, and serve our point where people won’t be tricked or fooled into our use of language and not make the mistakes of misleading others.
What you said about us people trying to manipulate the peoples opinions through their words reminded me of what our professor told us in the very beginning of our course. We must not convince the people to be by our side, but simply give them an object to discuss upon and create deep thought for. Also, I agree with the idea of the “Thesaurian language”, which many people try to use today. I feel as though when there are too many big words, the writing gets kind of fruity and it starts to lose objective as well as the attention of the reader.
