Orwell believes that we are letting the English language fail, we are getting further and further away from the point of language which is to grow and evolve. We are forgetting that language doesn’t have to be perfect or complicated that some of the best pieces of writing are the simple ones. We push ourselves to write something that sounds so intelligent that we forget the point that we want to bring across to the reader. We lose our voices so often by trying to write something that doesn’t reflect on what we actually mean.
Orwell states that Language is Thought and Thought is Language, but somewhere along the line we forgot this and we use language devoid of thought, emotions and meaning. We take wonderful pieces and turn them into meaningless paragraphs, dragging out nonsense hoping someone will think its incredible. Orwell wants use to realize the mistakes we are making and for us to think when we write or begin to write.

I often find myself trying to complicate and beautify the things I write, but when I reread it I realize my original thought doesn’t get through.
