Some political speech or business speech today are having the problems that Orwell identified and described in 1946. In the article, Orwell points out 4 major issues that we have today: dying metaphors, operators/verbal false limbs, pretentious diction and meaningless words.
For example, when the govenment want to give a speech about solving a social problem, they often use words like: enforce, enhance, improve and strength, etc. Those words are basically no meaning. Because we can not tell how the government going to solve the problem.
Same thing as business, when people talking about “how to become a successful businessman” they often use some words like: aggressive, passion, be smart. Maybe this is not a very good example, but what I trying to say is that today, we have a lot of conversions that have these problems like Orwell mentioned.
