Digital Citizenship

Personally, I haven’t really considered the responsibilities of my own digital citizenship because I don’t believe that my opinions matter to other people. I also believe that my personal thoughts on something wouldn’t really contribute to society in any way. But throughout my experiences in social media, I think its good to have your personal thoughts out in public even if it’s for a tiny audience. Publicly showing your opinions and ideas can educate other people about different perspectives on a certain subject. Whether they agree or disagree, they now have the knowledge of various viewpoints.

I think that being a digital citizen means being a contributor to social media by expressing your own thoughts and opinions on a particular subject matter. It is important that we, as students, consider the responsibilities of our digital citizenship because we have the right to educate other people on our own perspectives about a certain issue or topic. We should also be able to express our thoughts freely.

Some responsibilities a digital citizen might have to his or her community would be to educate their audience in a respectful manner. Digital citizens have the right to speak their mind but they have to do it appropriately.  They shouldn’t belittle someone else’s opinions or disrespect their audience in any way.
