Twitter is a social media that allows people to express their thoughts in a short brief manner and this is what makes it unique. Limited to only 140 characters, people can continuously update their status whether it’s informative or humorous. Using Twitter, I think it is going to be an interesting way to explore Huck Finn. It allows students to express their thoughts about the characters, themes, and etc. in a brief manner. With the use of Twitter, students can see what their classmates think about a certain point in Huck Finn. For example, many students may have thoughts when reading about the robbery group that Huckleberry and Tom creates with their friends. They had the desire to rob people and kill them after bringing them to their cave just like the book they read on.
Huck Finn has brings up different themes throughout the book such as: domestic violence, racism, homosexuality, and more. Students can write their analysis of a certain situation in the book via twitter without having to write a whole essay or paragraph.
Another feature that makes the use of twitter interesting is the use of hashtags. It categorizes the tweets, based on the hashtags. There’s no need to explain what the tweets are about like you would have to in a summary or essay. Instead, the use of proper hashtags explains what the topic is.
