The hashtag #iownmyself is really an essential theme in this novel. It reveals the racial injustice Jim is escaping from and the lack reasoning in the southern culture Huck is evading. Jim aches for freedom. He hops on a raft with Huck on a trochous river with twists and turns that resemble the nature of their adventures.
Many of the posts with this hashtag focus on the plight Jim and Huck toward freedom with their adventures running away from their hometown. A few have caught my interest explores the amount of freedom Jim is able to have after escaping. Is Jim truly free to do whatever he wants without being seen? Does legally being free justify being free after escaping? How does Jim define being free and where? These are the questions that arise when I read the tweets that challenges the hidden emotions the characters may have felt.
