Journal #13

The in-class writing  for the Compare and Contrast paper, that I’m currently in the process of writing, made me realize a lot of different strengths and weaknesses of the argument I was trying to make. One thing that I learned was that the argument I was trying to make was too broad, and that I needed to be more specific. Originally, my argument was going to be about how the theme of family is related to the theme of morality in Huck Finn, but after the workshop I see that that argument is much too broad and it needed some refining. My argument now is how the male surrogate family of Huck helps sway him to what he defines moral and immoral. There weren’t many helpful ideas that were given to me by my peers but I did see how a lot of us are using the theme of morality in our essays in some way or another. After the workshop I realized that I have to be more specific and offer a new idea to the discussion of Huck Finn because every moment someone is reading something that I wrote they are closer to death, so I should make reading my assignment worth it.

One Response to Journal #13

Nice reflection here, Romin. I had actually intended you to write Journal #13 after we completed the Reverse Outline workshop on March 18th. But this will suffice.
