Summarizing, Paraphrasing, and Quoting

In this online workshop, you’ll learn how to choose between summary, paraphrase, and quoting to best support your writing goals. You’ll also learn how to incorporate the words and ideas of others into your writing.

At the close of this workshop, students will be able to:

• Distinguish between the different scales of citation and to identify each type in context
• Make strategic, purposeful choices about which type of citation to use when
• Employ the sentence-level skills needed to edit existing citations
• Draft effective citations
