Work at the Writing Center
Front Desk Attendant
We are no longer accepting applications for the Front Desk position. We are currently reviewing applications and we hope to get back to all applicants by the end of July.
Front desk attendants are the first face most students see when they enter the Writing Center. Their primary job responsibility is to make students feel welcome, and to help students navigate to the Writing Center resources most appropriate for their needs.
Writing Consultant
We are not currently accepting applications for the Writing Consultant position, but we will update this page if that changes.
Consultants are graduate-trained teachers of college writing. In addition to their work in the Writing Center, they teach courses here at Baruch or at other institutions across the city, and many write or edit professionally. Consultants work one-to-one with student writers, co-author session records with students, conduct small-group workshops, engage actively in professional development, and participate in pilot programs in collaboration with faculty and other support units of the college.
