Work at the Writing Center
Writing Consultant
Please note that we have filled all open positions for 2022-23.
Consultants are graduate-trained teachers of college writing. In addition to their work in the Writing Center, they teach courses here at Baruch or at other institutions across the city, and many write or edit professionally. Consultants work one-to-one with student writers, co-author session records with students, conduct small-group workshops, engage actively in professional development, and participate in pilot programs in collaboration with faculty and other support units of the college.
Front Desk Attendant
Please note that we are not currently accepting Front Desk applications.
Front desk attendants are the first face most students see when they enter the Writing Center. Their primary job responsibility is to make students feel welcome, and to help students navigate to the Writing Center resources most appropriate for their needs.
Writing Center Ambassador (Federal Work Study ONLY)
Please note that we are not currently accepting Writing Center Ambassador applications.
Writing Center Ambassadors work with our administrative and front desk team to increase awareness, interest, and participation in the Writing Center’s services. Their primary job responsibility is to gain firsthand experience with the Writing Center’s services and to use that knowledge to help other students connect with our resources. Please note that this position is only open to students who have received a Federal Work Study grant for the current award year.
