The process of generating ideas in creative writing presents many students notable challenges. Some of the strategies students use to overcome the issue of generating writing ideas include listing, looping, nut shelling, clustering, and freewriting. I, in most cases, employ a listing strategy to generate ideas in creative writing. Before embracing this writing strategy, I relied on freewriting. Despite its applicability, freewriting is associated with a significant problem. In many cases, one ends up running short of content while writing. The most interesting writing strategy from Antiltzs Invention Strategy is “Build Ideas through Compound topics.” The latter strategy also aligns with my invention strategy (listing) since it requires an individual to think about a topic and evaluate the connection between various subtopics surrounding the main subject. Many students are fond of using internet sources while composing their research projects. Poor usage of the internet increases a students chance of getting entangled with plagiarism. I response to high rates of plagiarism among college students, how can a student use secondary sources and internet sources and still avoid plagiarism.
