Today, we started to lay some groundwork for the logistics and key ideas of the course going forward. We set up our Blogs@Baruch account (if you needed to) and got some practice posting. Through that posting, you let us know a bit more about yourself and got to know your classmates a little more.
We then spent some time thinking about key ideas and aims of our course textbook, followed by some thinking about how we might apply some of those key ideas and aims in our own work with data and writing this semester.
Then we looked at the instructions for your first two writing assignments–a shorter one and one a little longer. Both will help get acquainted more with the key ideas and themes of the course as well as your place within it.
Finally, you filled out the Learning Needs Survey, which will help give me a little bit more perspective on how I can best help you this semester.
Next Time
For Monday, February 8, have the following completed:

- Complete the Process Writing: Reading Response 1 by 9am on February 8. You will submit it as a blog post on this Blogs@Baruch website. Make sure to check “Posts” and “Reading Response 1” as categories before you publish the post.
- Start thinking up ideas for, and working on, the Literacy and Numeracy Narrative that is due by 11:59pm on Wednesday, February 10.
I really enjoyed this learning and assignment process.
This learning assignment was helpful and interesting I just need to become more familiar with the discord system and blog posts this is new for me and I had some difficulties finding everything.
This is my first time using Blogs@Baruch and Discord. I was lost at first but I am learning more about it as I navigate through.
This is also my first time using Blogs@Baruch. It was a bit confusing navigating and also making sure that I have completed all the necessary parts. I’m still trying to get used to this platform and hopefully I can work on it better in the future.
