I took a lot away from all of your writing in your reading response.

For some of the more informal writing responses, I might write you a letter about some things that caught my eye, questions I had, etc. based on reading your writing. Everyone made a good faith effort here, I thought, so all who completed the assignment have received full credit for it.

In your writing, some themes that really stuck out where the following:

• the structures of oppression (think Collins’ matrix of domination about laws/policies, enforcement of those laws/policies, and larger cultural messages circulating in media)
• how the privileged can’t see what happens (i.e., the “privilege hazard”) and the difficulty this creates for any meaningful change.
• the influence of the powerful (e.g., Serena Williams’ voice getting attention of the media)
