The result of the election are now three weeks in and America is still in complete chaos. In the past I wrote about the election as it had just finished and the results were still raw to us Americans. Donald Trump is three weeks into his presidential transitions and things have only gotten worse. Every person he appoints to a job in office has a lot of history behind them and some feel like they will not benefit the country. America as a nation is split and it has you wonder where can we find democracy in our country.

Not everyone is being represented equally and as The presidential transition continues people will remain divided. Trump’s campaign is still being talked about all over the media everyday. The newest controversy is the call for a recount of votes in swing states. Trump has taken to social media to attack those in favor of a recount. He has stopped saying the election was rigged and is ready to be president. I feel that a recount will not have any success and that we have to face what is in store for the future of the country.

The TRump Presidency begins in less than two months. Until then he must find a way to smooth out the transition of power without causing uproar in America. He must unite Americans in order to gain full support and to do his job to the full potential.

  1. This was an interesting read! I think it’s impossible to completely smooth out the transition to into a Trump America. He promised his supporters that certain types of people will not be able to come/stay in America. His supporters have also been involved in several racist incidents since the election. These two facts alone guarantee a rough transition. On the bright side, Trump seems to have become more mature since the results of the election. He’s changed his mind on certain policies and has shown noticeably more discretion. Still, he has yet to take office so we will have to wait and see what happens.

  2. I agree with your comment about Trump having to find a way to smooth out the transition of power, but like Sherman said, I don’t think it’s possible. Even before Trump was elected, America was divided; however, I think this election highlighted the division of the citizens in the United States. I think at this point, he’s just trying to deny the possibility of the voting being rigged and trying to deny the uproar.

  3. Although Trump isn’t officially in the office yet, you make good points about him appointing previous politicians that have negative backgrounds to them. At this point, I feel like it should be obvious to everyone that he has no political experience at all. A agenda that Trump addressed as part of his campaign is to “drain the swamp”, but is anointing those who have negatively affected out country as a whole. Despite his efforts, I highly doubt that Trump will be able to unite America as a whole as a result of how he presented himself during his campaign.

  4. Donald Trump’s presidency has made millions of Americans anxious and worried. From what I’ve heard from my political science professor, Trump is planning to withdraw funds from numerous budgets, such as climate change. Also, one of the members he plans to appoint in his cabinet is infamous for denying climate change.

People have been more divided than they’ve ever been in recent history. As far as I’ve seen, you’re either a Trump fan or an opponent; it’s no longer about Hillary or what she could’ve done, but rather an overwhelming fear of what Trump will do to America.

From what I can see, the only positives from his presidency so far is the awareness of how racist America truly is. Any damage he might inflict on America as a nation will help future Americans vote for a more suitable candidate.

  5. I agree with you that people will remain divided under the Trump Presidency, however, it is nearly impossible for Trump or for any President to gain full support from all Americans. From the establishment of democracy to the formation of a two-party system, the United States has always tended to divide public opinion and to let the people decide which one is better for themselves and for the country. I guess one of the many disappointments of this election is that Trump won the election without winning the public vote, which doesn’t sound so “democratic” for many people, but it is also important to protect the smaller states’ representation in the government with the electoral college. As you said, the recount is not likely to change the result of this election, so let’s cross our fingers and see what is going to happen to this country in the next four years.

  6. Recently Trump has been meeting with potential candidates for his cabinet. One of the candidate being considered for Secretary of State is Mitt Romney so I think there won’t be an uproar. Romney can stop most of Trump’s extreme policies and help close the gap between Americans. If Trump have experienced politicians in his cabinet, they can advise him to reconsider his policies or change his positions.

  7. I agree with you the society is in chaos after the elections. Although Hilary won the public, the electoral went straight to trump. This really shows where our political elites stand in the political view point. One question I can’t stop asking is are the political elites in some form bias to their opinion. And does their opinion correlate with trumps? But after the election hate crime has increased 20% over two days. That’s a lot considering how big our nation is.

  8. I agree with you that a recount will have no success so we should just move on and accept the results of this election. I agree with Xinyi that it was highly a disappointment that Hillary wasn’t our president even though she won the popular vote. This isn’t democratic at all according to majority of the people. Although he is still a month away from steeping into office, I agree that he must have a smooth transition and not cause any more uproars than he already has.
