I chose this clip because of the risks and sacrifices people make to give their kids a better life. This adult was not the father of the kid who he sacrificed his life for, but he did it to give a chance to find his mother who he crossed the boarder for. Crossing the broader is not easy, regardless if it was legal or illegal due to the conditions of starting from scratch in a country they rarely know. I believe the same way he sacrificed his life for the kid is the same way my dad would sacrifice a lot for me. Same goes with other parents who sacrifice a lot more for their kids and to provide them with a future.

J Balvin is a Colombian artist who released a song and music video called “Perra” or “Female Dog” in English. It received backlash and was seen as very problematic. This is mostly because of the music video. This song was a collaboration with another artist named Tokischa. She is Dominican with a darker complexion and was seen in a dog house for the music video. J Balvin was also walking with two black women on leashes. He is literally portraying black women as dogs. The video was removed from YouTube. Even the President of Colombia wrote a response to this music video and said it was “openly sexist, racist, machista, and misogynistic …. violates the rights of women, comparing them to an animal that must be dominated and mistreated.” I completely agree. The way women were depicted in this video was extremely offensive and it was even worse that they only put women of color in these roles. This shows how colorist Hispanics can be. They don’t realize Hispanics can be black and even when they are aware of it they are openly racist and colorist.
