Memorial Memory- The Statue of Liberty

The monument that I have visited that was memorable was when I had to visit the Statue of Liberty. This monument specifically was memorable because this was a moment where I was able to see what America has gotten as a gift from France as a symbol to represent our independence . When I saw it, it felt like I was connected to the statue because of how close I was to this huge monument .During this wonderful experience, I was able to go up the stairs all the way to the top to take pictures to hold memories forever. Having prior knowledge, the Statue of Liberty was brown but over the years it has changed colors over the years. Another thing that has made this experience wonderful was when me and my family were making our way to the statue on the ferry. We got on the boat at Battery Park and when we got on the ferry we were also able to see Ellis Island. Ellis Island was a place where immigrants came to the United States and got inspected. I was able to learn more about this specific place through the Ellis Island museum after I went to the statute. I would say that the Ellis Island museum would be seen also as a monument; this is a place where history is held for what has happened. I would say that this stood with me because whenever I see the statue on TV it wouldn’t get the real connection to this monument but once I have stepped foot on the monument it was just like a wow to me and it was just really huge. Also this has also made me realize that this is one of the monuments that is really important to America and is such a strong symbol to us. After I visited , I went to the Ellis Island museum. The museum was filled with just things that were left behind when immigrants have landed in America and history. These two monuments go hand in hand because the way I have seen it was like the immigrants knew they made it to America when they saw the statue. Learning about immigrants’ experiences is one of the qualities that stood out to me. Learning why these monuments were built is something that people need to understand because these memories will always be there no matter what.
