Memorial Memory

A memorial that i find i have some sort of personal connection to is the George Washington monument located on the south end of Union Square. The reason i have personal connection to it is not because of it’s history and what not, but because of the sense of nostalgia it gives me. The feeling comes from me being in high school in the area (Union Square Academy) for such a long time and always seeing it, everyday when i commuted to school and when i left school or after school just traveling because there are many populated train stations built around the monument that me and my friends commonly used. This brings me that nostalgia effect though because now as a college student who doesnt commute to and from that school which allowed me to see the statue all the time, when i DO see it from time to time when i need to take transportation i tend to reminisce about my high school years and such, which i definitely enjoyed but felt they just flew by. Seeing this memorial definitely brings back a good feeling from back then.
