9/11 Memorial Memory

When I was about 13 years old, I visited the 9/11 memorial site. I didn’t get a chance to go inside the museum itself, but I did get to see the outside which was enough. The outside was absolutely beautiful. It was a big fountain that sunk down with water flowing gracefully down the walls. It is in the shape of the outline of one of the buildings that collapsed. Just imagine a huge square. Surrounding this fountain is a plaque of the names of the victims during the attack. I would see people bring flowers to these plaques and it was sweet to see that people still cared about this big event that affected the country as a whole. I will always remember visiting this memorial because of how peaceful it is. There is security surrounding it making sure that people aren’t being too loud. No one is allowed to play music, loud videos, or be too noisy. One of my family memebers were being loud and it was very embarrassing. We kept being told to keep it down. For some reason one of them was playing a video of 9/11 on YouTube. He could have just enjoyed being in the moment and the peace that was roaming the air. This memorial was well chosen. It was thought through and brought respect to those who have passed. Having those security making sure that everyone was respectful was amazing to see. I’ve never seen anything like that. Being respectful was a priority. It was refreshing to experience this.

  1. Wow, I’ve of course seen and heard about it but never went in person im glad you got to experience at least that. I also like the way you gave it the characteristic of beautiful, which it is, definitely an understatement though.

  2. I’ve see the 9/11 memorial and i completely agree that it brought respect to those who passed. I think that them having security there is so important to keeping respect so no one thinks to do anything silly or disrepectful.
