Final Reflection

Overall I feel like this semester improved my writing skills, since the more you practice the better you get. I was exposed to 3 different essay types which allowed me to regain prior knowledge as well as new skills. Coming into the semester I didn’t really have any goals for my writing besides to better myself as a writer and to learn new writing techniques. One thing I would change, is I would tell my self in the beginning of the semester not to procrastinate and to do assignments early because it’ll help out in the long run.

One writing I am proud of is the 2nd essay, the rhetorical movie analysis. I feel like its my strongest writing out of the ones I previously have done for the class. It was also surprisingly on the easier side since I chose a movie I had prior info on. Also I had prior knowledge on the literacy theory from psychology class so I didnt have to do much research on it. I learned that if you use prior knowledge you already know it can save you time and make your writing experience much easier and smoother.

The one writing I had struggled with is the 3rd essay, the argumentative one. Since it was such a research heavy essay, I had to do a-lot of research on my memorial and how to implement it in the right way. I overcame this by setting up a time in the day where I would have to work towards the essay and block out all other distractions. What strikes me now that I look over it was how much I overthought it and stressed when I could have just been completing the essay instead.

To conclude, this semester really flew by, it was hard at first adjusting to the college life and meeting new people and friends but eventually it got more normal. One thing I would have to improve on is time management since in college you have so much time but also a-lot of assignments as well so you have to allocate your time wisely.
