Memorial Memory: 9/11

Growing up living in New York I’ve always heard about what happened on September, 11, 2001 on how it affected the lives of millions of people. In middle school I went on a field trip to visit the 9/11 museum. The museum was large, and had many artifacts from the attacks such as metal rods and core columns of the towers, a bloody pair of shoes from a survivor, a pin of a flight attendant that was working on one of the flights that crashed into the towers, etc. And in the memorial outside of the museum, I had read that there are over 2,900 names listed of those who had lost their lives. Seeing photographs of the tragedy and heroism from that day made walking through the museum an emotional experience. It allowed me as a visitor to acknowledge how sad, scary, and unexpected this event was for our city, and those directly impacted by the attacks.

  1. I would have to agree with my peer here in how all of this was unexpected and the amount of people who died was just ridiculous and affected many lives including the children of the fallen victims.
