9/11 memorial

Although, I truly have never visited a memorial I would have to say the one that resonates the most to me is the 9/11 memorial as it was a catastrophic event that killed many. It also happened so spontaneously allowing many people in New York to witness it. The memorial for 9/11 is two square like holes which surrounding it holds the all the names of victims in marble/stone. The hole is meant to show where the two towers stood and also there is a presence of running water flowing towards the hole giving a waterfall like appearance. The memorial also displays huge lights that shoot up towards the sky giving the illusion of them being there. Though this is done every September 11 as a means to remember those who have died. I feel as though this memorial is truly successful as how monumental it is and extremely accessible it is as all you need to take is a train or bus depending your location. Although I have never visited the 9/11 memorial site, just seeing the pictures of the water flowing downwards kinda just stayed with me as for me I feel as though it depicts the people who jumped out of the building and the towers that feel. The water and its position to go downward just gives it a more dead and serious tone when i apply my interpretation to it. Though this tragedy happened about 20 years ago this memorial still reminds of that day and is still much acknowledged by the people even though the newer generation never experienced it themselves
