He lived in the U.S for over three decades and was deported back to Mexico his country of origin after he was arrested for possession of marijuana. Texas has some of the strictest laws in the U.S in regards to marijuana and Robin was charge with a felony, which ultimately got him deported. Robin has been living in Mexico for over 20 years after being deported when he was 30 years old. Robin talks about how he grew up in the U.S and he feels out of place living in Mexico. Robin doesn’t speak Spanish fluently and has a hard time interacting with the local people in the town he lives in. Robin even runs an American style restaurant in Mexico because it’s the culture he grew up with and has always been around.

The Congress made the process for International adoptees very complicated considering they didn’t receive citizenship when they were adopted and they had no clue they didn’t have their citizenship. However with a recent bill proposed by congress called the Competes Act. The competes act is a package the provides measure that promote research innovation and manufacturing in the U.S, it also snuck in the adoptee citizenship act which would grant adoptee automatic citizenship for people like Robin. The Competes Act get put under the immigration amendment and it looses support and it starts to build up bigger issues in several other fields.
