Aparna Nancherla, Brian Bahe and Maz Jobrani talk race and comedy : Code Switch : NPR

This article is about the concept of racial jokes and how it appears in the acts of colored comedians. B.A Parker talks about how messed up the comedy game is. She talked about how people of color were very conspicuous so she would always hide in the back due to the fact that if she were to be in front, she would be targeted for a racial joke. I agreed with Gene when he said such jokes are corny especially coming from a white/non-colored person. I feel like there are boundaries which people shouldn’t overstep depending on their race. Like it’d be fine if a black person made a fried chicken joke, but it gets tiring when a non-colored person does so. My viewpoint was agreed upon, yet they also brought the fact that when saying such racial jokes, it includes the audience by showing them a little of your experiences as being a part of that race. My viewpoint still stands, I feel like people should stick to their racial jokes instead of using others but if the audience that includes such race doesn’t have a problem with it then there’s no reason to get annoyed.
