Hello my name is Walker Brown-Adams (she/her). I am a born and raised New Yorker and transfer student at Baruch from Skidmore College, although I have not been enrolled in college for about 3 years now. I have always had an unusual academic path and it has led me to be able to pursue a number of different experiences. I worked for the Museum of Natural History for a year, went to an acting conservatory, lead the marketing team at a startup, and worked as an event host.
The above picture is one I took of my friends at a picnic I organized as a test event for the company I was in the midst of launching pre-pandemic. I really love this photo for many reasons, firstly it includes a group of people I cherish deeply, time with friends and socializing in general is something that brings me deep joy. Secondly, we held the picnic in the Great Lawn, a place that I have been going to since I was a baby. I love feeling away from the city while still enjoying the buzz of energy that permeates manhattan. Third, we are all playing a game in this photo, and I am a massive game nerd. Since March my friends and I have used a weekly Dungeons and Dragons meeting to stay in contact. Finally, I just really miss these kinds of gatherings and I cannot wait to be able to get back to hosting them.
I’ll leave you with some fun facts: I have a pet snake named Draco, I am related to two presidents, and I love to ski.
Wow, what a great and fortunate set of life experiences you have had so far, Walker. Very cool. I’m really looking forward to the “buzz” of the city and also having more gatherings with folks once it becomes safe to do so. I think we are all learning a lot about ourselves as social creatures these paste few months.
