Hey everyone, my name is Peng and I had recently transferred to Baruch last semester. I’m a sophomore currently majoring in economics, although I’m not really sure this is the major I’d like to stick to.
This image represents me as the sea is known for its vastness and its swift changes in conditions. Due to its vastness, anyone like me can get easily lost at sea, faced with an immense amount of directions to take, and never really knowing if the one I’m taking will lead me to the destination I’m aiming for. Currently, the sea is calm and smooth, given the fact that I am still in my sophomore year and have some time, but I know the stormy conditions are quickly approaching, as I get closer and closer to taking my major courses once I get in Zicklin. Due to this, my main goal of this semester is to find that right path before I get stuck in the eye of the storm.
What a great image to describe what you speak of about having time but maybe not “too much” time. I will say something that hopefully brings you comfort: Very, very few people end up in a career that is super-related to the major they took in college. Know that there are many possible directions that your life can go in, but those directions are not “a bunch of bad ones” and “One True Good” one. You might do 3-5 majors (or tracks, or paths, or whatever) in 3-5 different versions of your life, and they could all lead to great outcomes you would be very happy with.
