Freaky Friday (2003)

In the 2003 film “Freaky Friday” starring Lindsay Lohan(Anna Coleman) and Jaime Lee Curtis(Tess), Anna is constantly always fighting with her family,  especially her mother since neither of them can seem to get along due to a lacking understanding between the two. Anna, a high school student who is in a Punk-Rock band, believes that her mother has the perfect life because she is a successful therapist and writer who makes a lot of money and doesn’t have to deal with the high school drama she deals with. Similarly, Tess thinks that Anna has it better because she doesn’t have to deal with the stress that comes with adulthood. She also believes this because she thinks that all she does is waist her time creating “noise” with her band. It isn’t until  their souls are switched due to an enchanted Chinese fortune cookie that they are able to switch roles for a day (bodies) and form more of an understanding between the two. This film shows displacement in that both Anna and Tess switch lives on a Friday and are forced to adapt to a new school/job, new acquaintances, new responsibilities, new obstacles, and new dramas that are not a part of their usual everyday .
