  1. After after spending time with Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz and familiarizing myself with Ede’s method for deciding when to quote, paraphrase, or summarize, what I learned and implemented is that citing sources is very important. What I did in my researched based argument is I started to cite my sources. The reason I did this is because the readers or audience of my writing will know where I got my information from. This can also give them a sense of authenticity by showing them that I got the correct sources.
  2. Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz define academic integrity as feeling proper citation is an ethical issue, rather than a strictly academic one. They found that academic integrity is to give credit to the author when using the source. The correct citation is not just an academic issue. It will not be noticed by other people, but it will be passed on to another person. Plagiarism is a serious problem and is affecting the way our future doctors, engineers, and workers think. What you have do is to praise writers and whatever source of information you get as much as possible because plagiarism is hard to avoid, and you might not even notice it.

The best way to protect cultural history is to encourage people to speak and write in their favorite language. Using a native language can make a culture longer, but other technologies can help people appreciate a culture for a longer period of time because they will not be discouraged by trying to learn a new language. “They see it as an Indian language as one of the skills they must master,” the author said. Similar to Indians who use English, this word is used to refer to them. Nevertheless, some people think that English is a remnant of British history, and they were lost after being conquered. Nguji said that the “unequal power relationship between languages” refers to the post-colonial African government imprisoning him for writing in African languages. He tried to write in his native language, but finally gave up. The persecution of Ngugi was because he did not write in his native language.

  1. Do smartphones cause more harm than good? 1. Smartphones cause brain damage. 2.Smartphones can cause eye strain from overuse. 3. The materials used to make smartphones are highly toxic. 4. Smartphones increase anxiety and stress.
  2. Gallo argues that public awareness influences society’s behavior. he explained how prisoners change their behavior because of being watched by others because they understand there is a detrimental effect if something goes wrong. a court case was attempting to determine the relationship between the two. Since a lot of people believed that there was a violation of people’s privacy According to this, young black men are more likely to be prosecuted for crimes than white men.
  3. Crary, D. Interracial marriages surge across U.S. USA Today.
The article uses statistics to show the prevalence and development of interracial relationships. The reader will get real percentages and statistics that are backed up by census bureau data figures. Jean-Pierre cited in her article as evidence for her assertion.
“Surveillance and conformity in competitive youth swimming” by Melanie Lang
I suspect this article was used to support their argument. This example reminded me that there’s more to it than meets the eye. Taking an example illustrates the appropriateness of touching a child in public. I noticed that it was used to back up their argument. It’s concerning that there can be different methods of monitoring when done in private and public. When someone knows they are being watched, they will act accordingly.

  1. One way I practice crap detection is when I am having a conversation with my friends or family members. What I mean by this is that whenever I feel an argument incoming, I just leave the talk before it even starts. If the argument has begun, just to end it, I agree with the other side even though I know I am right because if the argument keeps on going it can ruin the relationship. This can help keep relationships strong even if you had to agree with the other person. This also helps satisfy the other person that you can agree with them further building trust because they can think that you have the same thoughts as them.
  2.  A new tool Lunsford and Ruskiewicz offered me that I will try to stick to in my research is to be objective about my topic. There will always be a sense of opinion after a writer explains their findings in their own words, according to Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz.
  3. Something I learned previously that I find unhelpful now is that the more you write, the more quality your writing has. This has proven to be bad advice because even though long writing can have good quality, it does not necessarily mean that long writing automatically means it is a good piece of text. Things like Detail and analysis bring quality to your writing.
  4. An unpopular opinion I have is that vanilla ice cream is better than chocolate ice cream. The reason I believe that vanilla ice cream tastes better than chocolate ice cream is because there is a more rounder and premier taste to the ice cream rather than the chocolate one. Chocolate ice cream on the other hand is too powered with a strong taste of chocolate and you can’t enjoy the soft taste of the ice cream because of all the chocolate inside. Even with toppings on chocolate ice cream, the most dominant flavor you taste is the coca. With vanilla ice cream it is much more subtle and with different toppings, you get a well rounded mixture of flavors. One could argue that the over dominant taste of chocolate in ice cream adds more character and flavor to the ice cream, but it is the only flavor you taste in the ice cream. This claim may not be true in all circumstances because everyone has their own type of taste at the end of the day, but overall ice cream should have a more subtle taste for you to enjoy the cool sensation that it brings you. In my opinion, vanilla ice cream brings you that flavor over chocolate ice cream even if it is the more popular flavor.

  1. One process of inquiry I have pursued entirely for pleasure is playing football. My heart has been long attached to football for quite some time and I always find the time out of my schedule to go play. I also watch the NFL on Thursday nights, Sunday mornings and nights, and Monday nights. Football is the one sport I am always continuously following on YouTube and social media and is one that I don’t believe I will ever let go.
  2. Since we are living in a pandemic now, a question I have is that when will things go back to normal in a life where COVID-19 is seen as a thing of the past? It feels like this day will take ages to come, but there has been significant improvement in normalizing life back to how it was since the virus has been controlled compared to last year. Another question that I have on my mind is how much longer will it be until natural resources start running out in the world? And what will the governments around the world do to preserve them? It is something scary to think about but could be a possibility with how careless humans are using natural resources and not giving back to the environment. Lastly, another question I have in my mind is would it be possible to survive without any money today? Money has become such a key source to survival in our world today. Money brings us things like food, water, and a home which are necessary things to survive.
  3. After reading Lunsford and Juszkiewicz, I realized that I should not get bored with researching. When it comes to researching are multiple materials to examine that you can expand on everyone. I do not want to engage in the study because I always believed it to be boring. But research is an everyday thing for most of us. In my mind, research has always been this boring concept where you are sitting in front of a computer all day looking at numbers and statistics, but research can be with analyzing anything. This just gives me a brand new view on what exactly researching is.

The show Nu Pogodi is about the difficult life in the Soviet Union. The show allowed the people of this group to experience a freedom they don’t usually experience. The scandalous life that existed in the Soviet Union was discussed by Yablonovoskiy. They talk about life at the time, how difficult it was, and how it became easier when the war ended. The grandfather and his associates began to relax after seeing this show. The purpose of the show was to show how beautiful communism can be. The use of rhetoric is discussed.

The significance of this role in Yablonovoskiy’s life is immediately apparent. Especially in times where social media and the internet are no longer available. I can also relate because there would be a time where my family and I would spend time together going out to eat and watching movies together. According to his accounts of the cartoon and the memories that surround it depict what the cartoon meant to him. Those with the same living conditions would be reassured by it. The show gave them the feeling of being normal.

What effect I believe that this course has made on my personal life, my understandings and values is that it made me realize how important the aspects of literature are in our lives. I believe that this course has made me more open to how people can express themselves, and has made me realize that my own opinions can mean something to other people. I believe that by learning to write well, a person can be more open to the world around him or her, and this is a great benefit to the world around us. When we are forced to sit down and think, or to express an opinion through the use of words, it forces us to be more critical of our own opinions, and value those of others. By learning to express one’s ideas in a well-written and clear way, a person will have a better understanding of the world around us, and that will help him or her to lead a more fulfilling life. By learning to write well, you will also be able to develop better skills in reading and communication, which you can use in your everyday life. By learning to express your ideas in an organized and formal way, you can create a more developed sense of yourself. As you get older, you will develop a sense of yourself that will make you more confident.

1.Chau is talking about Americans negative stereotypes on Asians. Using the film “Crazy Rich Asians,” he claims that similar stereotypes still exist in todays society.

2.Asians have been in the United States for a very long time and have made a significant difference to American soil, just like every other race. It is incorrect to treat them this way because portraying all Asians in a particular way due to stereotypes is disrespectful to them as they are also human just like the rest of us.

3.Chau’s most convincing arguments would be stronger if he talked about Chinese people on page 132 being illiterate. Chau was showing that Asians are constantly judged by Americans. Asians we’re being judged because they work too hard. This is showing that they were always being included in a stereotype, no matter what the condition was.

4.The opposing side’s strongest argument could be that Asians migrated to the United States because of the Gold Rush, taking a lot of jobs that Americans could have. Since so many started flooding the country, the United States restricted the number of Asians who could enter the country.

5.I discovered that Asian culture is often neglected and misunderstood. The fact that the Asian community has a very limited presence in the higher powers of America is not giving them a good representation of who they truly are. Producers use Asian stereotypes to reach a larger audience with comedy rather than teaching a lesson which is showing people that different cultures outside of the majority are a joke.
