.Chau is talking about Americans negative stereotypes on Asians. Using the film “Crazy Rich Asians,” he claims that similar stereotypes still exist in todays society.
.Asians have been in the United States for a very long time and have made a significant difference to American soil, just like every other race. It is incorrect to treat them this way because portraying all Asians in a particular way due to stereotypes is disrespectful to them as they are also human just like the rest of us.
.Chau’s most convincing arguments would be stronger if he talked about Chinese people on page 132 being illiterate. Chau was showing that Asians are constantly judged by Americans. Asians we’re being judged because they work too hard. This is showing that they were always being included in a stereotype, no matter what the condition was.
.The opposing side’s strongest argument could be that Asians migrated to the United States because of the Gold Rush, taking a lot of jobs that Americans could have. Since so many started flooding the country, the United States restricted the number of Asians who could enter the country.
.I discovered that Asian culture is often neglected and misunderstood. The fact that the Asian community has a very limited presence in the higher powers of America is not giving them a good representation of who they truly are. Producers use Asian stereotypes to reach a larger audience with comedy rather than teaching a lesson which is showing people that different cultures outside of the majority are a joke.
